DIY TRICOLOUR EARRINGS | DIY Jewellery
Accessories are always our first love, regardless of whether we be a girl or a boy. It wouldn’t be unusual to find a girls treasure chest filled with different earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Likewise, it wouldn’t be a surprise to find a guy’s drawers filled with bracelets, chains or watches. Yet, these days, with the rapidly rising prices, it is common for many to abandon their passion and love for these little things. So, how to save money, but also hold on to your love? Simple! Make them yourselves. So, here is a short and simple tutorial on how to make a pair of Tricolour Jhumkas.

Materials:
Silk thread - 3 colours
Cardboard
Fabric glue
Scissors
Jhumka mould
Headpin
Rubber bush
Beads
Hook
Round nose pliers
Cutting pliers

Method:
1. Wrap the silk thread around the cardboard a minimum of 20 to 30 times until the bunch of thread is thick enough.
2. Cut off the excess and using some fabric glue, apply it near the end and spread it using your fingers.
3. Now, cut the thread right below the area where the glue was applied to get a strip of silk thread bunch that is even from the top.
4. Make two more such strips of silk thread of two different colours.
5. Stick the three strips together, one on top of the other.
6. Hold the top end together and start braiding the three strips, bringing the strip at the right end to the middle, and then bring the strip at the left end to the middle. Repeat this for the entire length of the strip.
7. Apply some fabric glue at the end and spread it evenly. Cut off the excess thread.
8. Apply some glue around the lower end of the jhumka mould.
9. Stick one end of the braided thread at the bottom of the mould and start wrapping the braid around the mould in circles, applying glue as you go, until the mould is completely wrapped.
10. Cut off the excess thread and using a toothpick, insert the excess end inside the hole at the top of the mould.
11. Apply some fabric glue on the inside of the mould to stick the end in place at the top.
12. Take a head pin and insert a rubber bush inside it.
13. Now, insert the headpin inside the mould from the bottom.
14. Insert a bead inside the headpin from the top.
15. Cut off the excess of the head pin using a pair of cutting pliers. Now, bend the remaining headpin using a pair of round nose pliers to form a loop.
16. Insert the hoop through the loop. Tighten and lock the loop in place using the round nose pliers.
17. Make another similar earring.
18. Voila! Your tricolour earrings are ready to be worn.
