FALAFEL | Snack
Vada’s are one of the most common south Indian appetizers that are available in the market. But, despite their normalcy, it is also quite a popular dish, with various varieties forever being on the rise. It is not uncommon for people to experiment with different ingredients and spices as they make this common dish. Falafel is one such dish that is pretty similar to a Vada, yet is a completely different and unique dish.

Ingredients:
Chickpeas/Chana - 100 grams (soaked overnight)
Garlic - 4 Cloves
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Coriander powder - 1 tsp.
Pepper - 1 tsp.
Cayenne pepper - 1 tsp.
Onion - 1 no. (Medium Sized - Chopped)
Few fresh Parsley
Salt - 1 tsp.
All Purpose Flour/Maida - 2 tsp.
Oil

Method:
1. In a blender/mixer, add Chickpeas/Chana, Garlic, Cumin seeds, Coriander powder, Pepper, Cayenne pepper, chopped Onion, Parsley, Salt & All Purpose Flour/Maida.
2. Blend them to a coarse paste. Do not add any water to this paste.
3. Now, using your palms, roll this paste into small balls or make patties from them.
4. In a pan, heat some oil.
5. Drop these patties or balls into the pan carefully.
6. Deep fry until the patties or balls are of a crispy brown colour.
7. Drain the oil from the patties or balls. Your falafels are ready to be served. You can have them plain or with some ketchup or chutney.
