Green Peas Sundal (Pachai Pattani Sundal)

GREEN PEAS SUNDAL (Pachai Pattani Sundal) | Snacks | Side dish
Sundal is a very healthy, filling and protein packed dish. You can give sundal as a snack for children after they return from school. Navratri is one of those festivals when every household prepares some type of sundal every day as part of their menu. However, most prepare the same repeated recipes over and over again simply because of a lack of knowledge of other recipes. This is why we have come to your rescue this time. Try something different this Navratri by making this simple Green Peas Sundal a part of your menu.

Ingredients:
Green peas - 1 packet
Onion - 1 chopped
Fresh grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
A few Curry leaves
Salt to taste

For Tempering:
Coconut Oil - 2 Tbsp.
Urad Dal - 1/2 Tsp.
Chana Dal - 1/2 Tsp.
Mustard seeds - 1/2 Tsp.
Asafoetida powder a pinch
Red chili - 3

Method:
1. First, add green peas and some salt in boiling water. Once cooked, strain it & keep aside.
2. Heat some coconut oil in a pan. Add urad dal, chana dal, mustard seeds, red chilli & a pinch of asafoetida powder.
3. Once the mustard seeds start splattering, add the chopped onions & few curry leaves. Sauté the onions till they turn transparent in colour.
4. Now add salt and cooked green peas. Sauté it for a few minutes.
5. Finally, add the grated coconut & mix well for a minute.
6. Your Green peas Sundal (Pachai Pattani Sundal) is ready to serve.

Tips:
1. This is one of the easiest sundal's since the peas don't need any soaking. Hence, if you ever need to prepare a buffet at short notice, this is the sundal recipe I would recommend. It is also a very simple recipe, so it is perfect for a person just learning how to cook.
