Hyderabadi Egg Dum Biryani

It is a hassle for every mother to cook appealing dishes for their kids and families. It is normal for people to get bored of eating the same dishes over and over again so frequently.
But, how to keep their meals healthy when they get bored of the food they eat every day? Simple, cook new dishes. We are here with one such simple yet easy and different dish for you to try out at home.
A Hyderabadi biryani recipe, filled with vegetables rich in nutrients and also heavenly in taste! It is one of those few healthy dishes kids won't have a problem liking!
Ingredients:

Eggs - 6 nos (boiled)

For Frying Onions:

Onions - 4 nos
Oil - 1 Tbsp

Half Cooking the Rice:

Long Grain Rice - 200 gms
Cinnamon
Bay Leaf
Cardamom
Cloves
Peppercorns
Star Anise
Salt

Cooking Dum Biryani

Ghee - 1 Tbsp
Bay Leaf
Cinnamon
Cloves
Star anise
Cardamom Pods
Green Chillies - 2 to 3 nos
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 Tsp
Biryani masala powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
Yogurt / Curd - 1 cup
Salt
Few Mint Leaves
Saffron - Few Strands
Milk - 2 Tbsp
Coriander Leaves
wheat dough to seal

Method:
Prepare boiled eggs. Make small slits and keep them aside.



Shallow fry onions until they turn caramel brown in colour and keep them aside.


Soak 200 grams of rice in enough water for at least 30 minutes.
Half cook the soaked rice in boiling water with cinnamon, bay leaf, cardamom, cloves, peppercorns, star anise and salt. Strain and keep aside.



To a vessel add the ghee, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, star anise and cardamom pods.
Add the green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

Now add the biryani masala powder and the half of fried onions.
Add the fresh yoghurt/curd, some salt and mint leaves. Mix well.

Add the Boiled Eggs. It is time to remove the vessel from the flame.

Place a tawa on the flame and gently place the gravy vessel on the tawa.

Layer the half cooked rice. Make sure it covers the eggs.
Add the saffron milk, coriander leaves and fresh mint leaves.



Add the remaining fried onions and close & seal the lid with dough.
Dum cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the lid and there is your dum biryani ready to serve!
