Masala Chai (Home-made Masala Tea)

How about abandoning our regular normal tasting tea and adapting this spicy and healing Masala tea? The hot steam rising above the cup, its tantalizing aroma, the warmth spreading through our body with every sip. Doesn’t it sound too tempting? This hot masala tea is the perfect beverage to be served for a person with sinus, migraine, a bad cold or just a nasty headache. Also, wouldn’t you want to warm yourself with some hot and spicy tea when stuck in the cold? Try out this simple recipe and let it work its wonders on you, for once you’ve tasted it, you’ll be asking for more!

Ingredients:
Tea powder
Sugar
Ginger
Cardamom pods
Cloves
Cinnamon stick
Peppercorns
Milk
Water

Preparation:
1. Take a piece of dry ginger, 5 pieces of cardamom pods, 5 pieces of cloves, a piece of cinnamon stick and a tsp. of peppercorns in a mixer.
2. Grind it into a fine mixture.
3. Your masala tea powder is ready!

Method:
1. Take a huge tea & milk pan and boil two cups of water in it.

2. Add half a tsp. of masala tea powder to the boiling water.

3. Now, add a tsp. of tea powder.

4. Once the water content has reduced to half, add a cup of milk to the pan.

5. Once the tea comes to a boil, finally, add your required amount of sugar and let the tea come to a boil again, this time on a low flame.

6. Now, pour the tea into a cup through a tea strainer.

7. Your hot and spicy masala tea is ready to be served.


Best with:
Masala chai is one of those dishes that can be had with any sort of biscuit or bread. Some people are even known to have eaten it with rice or Poori’s. Our evening tea is almost always accompanied by our evening snacks, so you can serve it with any snack item, be it a spicy pakora, or those sweet cakes.
