Masala Sundal

DESCRIPTION

Number of servings: 3-4 persons

Ingredients

Chickpeas/Chana - 200gms (soaked overnight/8hrs)
Water
Salt to taste
Fresh Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp

For Masala
Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
Red chili - 5 nos

For Tempering
Oil - 2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Red chili - 2 nos
Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp
Few Curry leaves

Method

1. Add the soaked chickpeas, salt and water (till it covers the chickpeas) to a cooker



2. Pressure cook it

3. Dry roast sesame seeds, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and red chillis all separately and let them cool



4. Grind them to a fine powder.





5. In a pan, heat oil. Add urad dal, mustard seeds, red chili, asafoetida powder and curry leaves. Mix well



6. Add the cooked channa, masala powder and fresh grated coconut and mix well. check for salt.



7. Turn of when you smell the aroma of masala and coconut. Serve, eat and enjoy.
