DESCRIPTION
Nombu Kanji
Ingredients

Basmati Rice - 1/2 cup
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Oil
Cinnamon
Cloves
Cardamom
Medium Sized Onions - 2 (chopped)
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Green Chilies - 3 (finely chopped)
Minced Meat - 200 gms (or your choice of vegetables if you prefer vegetarian)
Large Tomato - 1 (chopped)
Split Moong Dal - 1//2 cup (washed)
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Chili Powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt
Handful of Mint Leaves
Handful of Coriander Leaves
Water
Diluted Coconut Milk - 2 cups

Method:
1.Take 1/2 cup of basmati rice(Buy: https://goo.gl/XIDAkF) and coarsely grind it. Set it aside.
2.Add 1 tbsp of ghee in a pressure cooker. Add little oil as well. To this, add cinnamon, few cloves, cardamom and two medium sized chopped onions. Saute the onions till they start browning.
3.Add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste, 3 chopped green chilies, minced meat and mix well. (For vegetarian option - add vegetables of your choice instead of minced meat.)
4.Add 1 large chopped tomato and 1/2 cup of washed moong dal(Buy: https://goo.gl/0GyIxG).Mix it well.
5. Season it with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp chili powder and salt. Add a handful of mint leaves and handful of coriander leaves.
6.Finally add the coarsely ground basmati rice.
7.Pour 2 1/2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles. (Buy: https://goo.gl/7cekH5)
8.Open the lid and gently mix the porridge.
9.Pour 2 cups of freshly diluted coconut milk and stir for 2 minutes.
10.Turn off the stove.Porridge is ready to be served.
Serve it hot or at room temperature.
