Green Peas cutlet

DESCRIPTION
The personal favourites of the south Indians has got to be Samosa’s and cutlets. Near every roadside stall that sells these yummy and divine snacks, the public can be found waiting in swarms. However, with the amount of spices and oil used, this is not so healthy if had often. Yet, our mind is fickle. It is known to divert from our thoughts and determinations often. And the tempting aroma of these dishes don’t help either. So, the only way to keep ourselves satisfied is to find a healthy alternative.
The Green Peas cutlet is a tasty & novel cutlet with a unique creamy and sweet taste of green peas. It is also one of the healthier starters out there, filled with ingredients that are good for a kid’s growth and health.

Ingredients:
250 gm Green Peas
1 Green Chilli (chopped)
A piece of ginger (chopped)
Few Dates (chopped)
Few Salted Pistachios
Cumin Seeds
Cumin Powder
Coriander Powder
Turmeric powder
Asafoetida powder
Salt to taste
Besan Flour (Gram Flour)
Juice of ½ lime
Ghee (for frying)
Coriander Leaves (Chopped)

Method:
1. Take a huge pot and pour about 2 tsp. of ghee in it, add the peas, green chilli and ginger and stir gently.

2. Add ¼ tsp. asafoetida powder, 1 tsp. cumin powder, 1 tsp. coriander powder, cumin seeds, ¼ tsp. turmeric powder, and salt to the pot. Gently mix them.


3. Add a little water for the peas to cook. Close the lid and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes.

4. Once the peas have absorbed all the water, remove the lid.

5. Add sated pistachios and chopped dates to the peas. Mix well.

6. Once this mixture has cooled, grind it to a coarse paste.

7. To this paste, add some coriander leaves, besan powder and a little lime juice. Mix well and check the seasoning.

8. Roll the paste into small patties using your palms.

9. In a small pan, add some ghee and heat it, Gently drop the patties into the pan and shallow fry them to a light brown colour.

10. Your healthy cutlets are ready! Serve hot as a starter or a snack item. Best when partnered with ketchup or some spicy chutney.
