Gobi Manchurian (Cauliflower Manchurian)

GOBI MANCHURIAN | Starter
Dry Vegetable Manchurian - mixed vegetable balls deep fried and tossed in a delicious base of chillies, ginger, garlic and basic Chinese sauces – a perfect starter. But what about those who aren’t fond of all vegetables? Maybe, this Gobi Manchurian is that dish that will keep them satisfied? A variation of the normal Vegetable Manchurian, this Gobi Manchurian is a dish made with only one vegetable, Cauliflower!
Indo Chinese food is always a treat and Manchurians tops the list. A delicious mix of nutritious vegetables coated with some flour batter, and fried. This is then tossed in a simple yet flavourful base of garlic, ginger, chillies and basic sauces. The final dish is so good it will get eaten up before you even realize it. Gobi Manchurian is one of the most perfect starters you can make for any party or a gathering.

Ingredients:
Gobi / Cauliflower - 1 no.
Maida / All-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp.
Corn Flour - 1&1/2 Tbsp.
Chilli powder - 1 Tbsp.
Salt
Oil for deep frying

For the Sauce:
Oil - 2 Tbsp.
Garlic - few cloves (finely chopped)
Ginger - small piece (finely chopped)
Few spring onions
Capsicum - 1 no. (Finely chopped)
Soya sauce - 3 tsp.
Chilli Sauce - 3 tsp.
Ketchup - 2 Tbsp.
Pepper - 1/2 tsp.
Salt

Method:
1. Boil water with little salt.
2. Cook the cauliflower that have been cut up into florets for 2 minutes. Then strain and keep aside.
3. In a bowl, add maida, corn flour, chilli powder and salt.
4. Add water and mix to a thick batter consistency.
5. Now add the florets and coat them with the batter.
6. Heat oil and deep fry the coated florets till they turn a beautiful golden brown in colour. Keep them aside.
7. In a pan, heat oil. Add garlic, ginger, spring onions and capsicums to the pan. Sauté well.
8. Add soya sauce, chilli sauce and ketchup. Mix well.
9. Add pepper and salt.
10. Finally add the fried florets and mix gently so that the sauce is coated all over the florets.
11. That's it! Your Gobi / Cauliflower Manchurian is ready to serve!

Tips:
You can cut the cauliflower into smaller florets while making this dish for your kids so it is easier for them to eat.
You can reduce the amount of sauces and spices for the spice-sensitive kids and elderly people.
Garnish it with some finely cut spring onion stalk or coriander leaves and serve sizzling hot!
