Momos (Veg & Non Veg) Recipe with Chutney Compilation

DESCRIPTION
A dumpling stuffed with the goodness of vegetables and sometimes, chicken, sided with a dip of spicy sauce/chutney makes this a perfect snack for any day, be it rain or shine!

CHICKEN MOMOS

Ingredients:
For Chicken fillings:
Minced Chicken - 500 grams
Ginger garlic paste - 1 Tsp
Spring onion stalk - 3 Tbsp
Salt to taste
Pepper powder - 1 Tsp
Onion - 2 nos finely chopped
Chopped Coriander leaves
Soy sauce - 2 Tsp
Oil - 1 Tsp

For Dough :
All purpose flour/Maida - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Oil - 1 Tsp
Water

Method:
For Chicken filings:
1. In a bowl add minced chicken, ginger garlic paste, spring onion stalk, salt, pepper powder, onion, coriander leaves, soy sauce, oil and mix well together.
2. Keep the chicken fillings aside.

For Dough:
3. Mix all purpose flour/maida with salt and oil.
4. Gradually add water and knead for 5 minutes.

To Make Chicken Momos:
5. Roll the dough into small balls.
6. Start rolling out flat and thin. Place the chicken fillings in the center .
7. Start folding from one side and seal both the edges by pressing it gently.
8. Boil the water in momo steamer.
9. Grease the momo tray with oil and place the momos.
10. Place the momo trays in a steamer and steam cook for 25 minutes.
11. Your chicken momo is ready, serve it with momos chutney/sauce.


MOMOS SAUCE/CHUTNEY

Ingredients:
Tomato - 3 no.
Dry Red chilli - 8 no.
Oil - 1 Tsp
Garlic - 2 cloves
Piece of Ginger
Salt
Sugar - 1/2 Tsp
Few Coriander leaves

Method:
1. 8 nos dry red chillies, boil in water. Remove it from boiled water and keep aside.
2. Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water. Once tomatoes start peeling its skin, remove from boiled water & cool it.
3. Remove tomatoes skin and chopped it.
4. Heat a saucepan, add oil, blanched tomatoes, garlic, ginger, blanched dry red chillies, salt and sugar. Cook it for two minutes and turn off the stove.
5. Check for seasoning and Cool down the mixture. Grind it with coriander leaves.
Simple and spicy momos chutney is ready to dip!


VEGETABLES MOMOS

Ingredients:
For Dough:
All purpose flour/Maida - 1 cup
Salt - 1/2 Tsp
Oil - 2 Tsp
Water

For Vegetable Fillings
Oil - 1 Tbsp
Onion - 1 no. chopped
Chopped Garlic
Chopped Ginger
Chopped Capsicum
Carrot - 1 no. grated
Cabbage - 1/2 no. finely grated
Salt to taste
Pepper - 1 Tsp
Vinegar - 1 Tsp
Dark Soy sauce - 1 Tsp
Chopped Coriander leaves

Method:
For Dough:
1. Take a bowl add all purpose flour (maida), salt, oil and add little water. Start kneading it for 5 minutes.
2. After kneading it, just cover the dough and let it sit for 30 minutes.

For Vegetable Fillings:
1. Heat a wide saucepan, add oil, onion, garlic, ginger and saute until the onions become transparent.
2. Add capsicum, carrot, cabbage, salt, pepper, vinegar, dark soy sauce, coriander leaves and mix it all together. Let it come to a room temperature.

To make momos:
1. Roll the dough into small balls.
2. Spread very little dry dough and start rolling dough balls in to flat.
3. Take the vegetable filling and keep it in the center.
4. Start folding the dough into small pleats by holding it.
5. Close and twirl the top edge of the momo.
6. For a crescent shape momos, start pleating from one side alone and seal both the edges by pressing it gently.
7. Steam the momos for 10 minutes.
8. Your vegetable momo is ready, serve it with momos chutney/sauce.
