Ven Pongal

DESCRIPTION
Pongal is one of the most common and healthy breakfast dishes of south India. And the varieties are many.
Ven pongal is just one of these many varieties of pongal made by the south Indians.
Easy to make, pleasing to your taste buds, and healthy for your body, this is a perfect recipe for any beginner to try out.

Ingredients:

Raw rice - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1 cup
Water - 600 ml
Salt
Ghee - 1/4 cup
Few cashew nuts
Peppercorns - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chopped Ginger - 2 tsp
Pinch of asafoetida powder
Few curry leaves




Method
Take a bowl and add raw rice and moong dal to it. Rinse and soak them in some water for 30 minutes.
In a pressure cooker add 600 ml of water. Now, add the soaked rice, dal, and salt in the cooker and pressure cook till done
In a pan, heat 1/4 cup of ghee. Roast the cashew nuts, cumin seeds and pepper corns. Now, reducing the flame, add chopped ginger.
Turn off the flame. Add asafoetida powder and curry leaves. Mix well.
Add the roasted ingredients to the cooked rice & dal. Mix well.
