Jeera Rice

Jeera Rice has a distinct flavour to it and is a favourite lunch-box recipe of Tamil Nadu. This is a very fast to cook, simple yet yummy and appetizing dish which can also be made at a short notice. This dish is often served with a gravy based side dish to add more spiciness to the dish. Here is a simple recipe to master this delish dish!

Piece of Cinnamon
Few Cloves
Cardamom - 2 nos
Bay leaf - 2 nos
Jeera/Cumin seeds - 2 Tsp
Green Chillies- 2 nos
Basmati Rice - 1 cup
Salt to taste
Water - 2 cups

1. Soak 1 cup of Basmati Rice for 30 minutes.
2. Heat some ghee in the wide pan.
3. Add some cinnamon, cloves, cardamom pods and bay leaves to add flavour.
4. Add the jeera/cumin seeds.

5. Add sliced green chillies
6. Now add the soaked basmati rice to the pan.

7. Mix for a minute and then add some salt.

8. Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
9. Close the lid and let it cook until its ready.

10. Jeera rice is ready to be served with Dal Tadka or any side dish.
