Tomato Rice Variety Rice

Number of servings: 3-4 persons


Cooked Rice
Tomato - 2 finely chopped
Onion - 1 finely chopped
Green chilli - 1
Salt to taste
Sambar powder - 2 tsp
A few Coriander leaves
Roasted Cashew nuts

For Tempering
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Chana Dal - 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
A few Curry leaves
Asafoetida powder a pinch


Add Ghee, Chana dal, Urad dhal, Cumin seeds & Mustard seeds to temper.

Once the Mustard seeds start spluttering, add the chopped Onion, Green chilli, few Curry leaves, Asafoetida powder & mix well.

Now add finely chopped Tomatoes, Salt to taste & 2 tsp of Sambar powder. Saute the mix till tomato becomes mushy.

Then add the cooked Basmati rice & gently mix it.

Finally, add chopped coriander leaves & mix.

Garnish it with roasted Cashew nuts (Optional).
